Transitional flame-spread and fuel-regression behaviors under the change of concurrent wind

چکیده
On the occurrence of an environmental wind, steady-state flame spread will go through a transitional process to new steady state concurrent spread. However, such transition between two states was rarely studied, despite that it often happens many fire events. This paper presents experimental study on flame-spread behavior over horizontal PMMA plate by applying different airflows from still air. The rate at pyrolysis leading edge and regression in fuel rear end were studied during this transition. Such could be divided into three stages based both length rate, (1) increasing maximum, (2) dropping peak, (3) reaching steady-state. wind velocity showed influences fuel-rear work provides novel data wind-assisted spread, which helps evaluate hazard under sudden change conditions.

An analysis is carried out of the steady spread of a flame with infinitely fast kinetics over a thermally thin solid rod in the absence of gravity. Due to the radial convergence on the solid surface of the heat flux heating and vaporizing the fuel, the spread rate is found to be higher than for a flame spreading over a slab, and the region of the gas around the flame which is affected by molecu...
متن کاملEffect of Gap Height on Thin Fuel Opposed Flow Flame Spread in the Narrow Channel Apparatus
The Narrow Channel Apparatus (NCA) is designed to establish a fully developed laminar flow profile above and below a thin, flat, solid fuel or on one side of a thick fuel for flame spread investigations. Due in part to its ability to suppress buoyantly-induced flow, the NCA is under investigation as a possible test method for screening materials for space flight applications. This study focused...
